Camp Schedule

Three sessions daily (approx. 2 hours each):

  • 8:00 AM
  • 1:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM

Food & Extras

Lunch & Dinner provided daily

Featuring Smok'n Joe's BBQ, owned by Iowa legend & 3x NCAA Champion Joe Williams

FAQs

Do I need to register myself for the tournament?

- Yes. HWA staff will not register athletes. Visit the Tournament Info section to register.

Do I need to attend camp to compete in the tournament?

- No. Participation in the HWA Summer Classic is open to all, even if you don't attend the camp.

HWA SUMMER CLASSIC

OPEN TO Pre-K - High School Boys and Girls
LOCATION Iowa City High School
STYLE Folkstyle

Weigh-ins

Early Weigh-Ins:

  • Early weigh ins offered for everyone after the last camp session on July 9th (approximately 8:15 PM)

Day-of Weigh-Ins: July 10th | 7:00–8:00 AM

  • Day of weigh ins will begin at 7:00 AM and end at 8:00 AM July 10th in the Iowa City High School Wrestling Room
  • Kids will be grouped into brackets based on weights and seeded based on skill level specified

Event Schedule

  • Doors will open to public at 6:45 AM
  • Wrestling will begin at approximately 8:45 AM

Match Format

Pre-K – 4th Grade:

  • 1 minute periods Pre-K - 4th both front and back bracket

5th Grade – High School:

  • 5th Grade - High School 1:30 periods

Bracketing & Format

Grouped by weight

  • Seeded by skill level (as specified during registration)

Format:

  • Pre-K / Super Pee Wee: 4 man round robin
  • Older Divisions: 8 man or more brackets
